The following games wero played at tho Gisborno Club’s green on Saturday :—W. Pottle, Murray, Collins, R. Johnston (24) heat Kymo, Temple, Fordyco, F. J. Wilson (15); Edgar, Burnnnd, Steele, Gautlin (23) beat Crawford, Attmoro, Baltridgo, Crawford (10). At the Turaugaiiui green on Saturday the first round of the Bennett Cup and championship modal competition was commenced, B. Bird meeting D. Hepburn. Hepburn scoured a load at tho start, and at tho fifth head ho had scored six to his opponents’ one. Be 'kept this lead until tho eleventh head, when tho score was ll—3. Then by good play Bird pulled up, and on tho 17th head he was tlireo points ahead of his opponent, tho score being 14—11. Thereafter Bird’s score remained stationary, and Hepburn scoring sixin tho remaining four heads won by 17 to 14. A number of further games in the competition will be played during tho week.
