Following is a list of the Poverty Bay candidates who passed at the Education Department’s examination, held on December 10th and 11th, 1907, for the purpose of awarding Junior National Scholarships) Education Board Junior Scholarships, and Junior Queen’s (Scholarships:— , « , AVilliim H. Chris,) 450, Esther Oxenham 449, Harold G. Hogg 448, -Ylfrida G. Solvander 410, Myrtle B. Church 425. Marion S. Picken 421, Donald H. Mclldowie 412, Madge E. Woodward 407, Mary I. Alortleman 406. As there were only 21 Poverty Bay candidates, 16 passes must be considered very satisfactory. AI avion Picken, Madge Woodward, and Donald Mclldowie were the only candidates from the Patutahi school, all passing. Grant, who heads the list for Poverty Bvv. is eighth on the list for Hawke’s Bay, the highest number of marks gained being 686. The scholarships for the Hawke s Bay district will be allotted at the next meeting of the Education Board, on February 10th.
