Tenders closed this morning for the borough loan of £17,000, the bulk of which will be used for extensive additions to the gas works and the purchase of a quarry aud crushing plant. Debentures carry 41 per cent interest. £65,200 was offered at from par to £3 premium, and £17,000 was accepted, the average premium being £1 los. This result is indicative of public confidence in the stability of the borough and the excellent prospects of the district.
