LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
A HUGE AREA TO BE OPENED.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. During the next three months, and exclusive of areas gazetted, particulars of which were announced recently, about 42,869 acres of Crowji land in the Auckland province have been surveyed, and will in all probability come into the market. Lands in course of survey for settlement, and expected to be opened during the current year, total 77,241 acres, and lands formerly opened under the Land Act of If.ffiJ, and now in course of re-openinc under tho amending Act of 1907, amount to 436,916 acres. Thus the total area available for selection during the current year will be 557,026 acres.
