Press Association, mi CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 25. l.he fifth and last sale of this seasons series of local wool sales was held to-day, when 2020 bales were offered. There was a small attendance of buyers, nearly all of whom were local men. For the few lots of merino and for any good half-breds mere was fair competition up to a f CI 3 a , m limit, but in the case of the u f i S prices were much below tno level of the previous sale. For cross-breds, and especially for inferior sorts, there was an improved demand, at rather better prices than those obtained at the previous sale. A considerable proportion of ’the mili lots was passed in, but the star lots were more briskly competed for byi ) local fellmongers, and were mostly?**, sold. The range of prices was.Mixed merino Sd to 9}d, inferior 6ld to / Id, medium half-bred 8d to 9ld inferior Old to 7fd, bled 4jd to C:]d, Dunedin crossbred 6d to j id, inferior 4fd to s|d. Dacon wool /d to Bd, lougwool 4jd to 6Jd; lambs wool 2d to 6d, merino pieces 6jd to id, half-bred pieces od to SM, crossbred pieces 2;id to IJd, locks lid to -id.
