ORMOND. (From our Correspondent.) It affords mo much pleasure to report two gratifying events which took placo in the Presbyterian Church last week, when tlio committee presented Air W. F. Hatton, who has since left on a short visit to the Old Country, with a handsome pocket-book _ and fountain-pen as a mark oi their esteem for Him and appreciation of his services to the Church, and tlio Bov. E. Walker, on behalf of the congregation, presented .Miss Bruce with :i valuable silver entree dish as a token of thoir groat regard and esteem lor her," accompanied with their sincerest wishes for" every happiness on tho eventful voyage on which, Dame Rumor hath it, sho will shortly embark. Ah- I. Herbert lias just returned after assisting Air Deavery to drive a. mob of 3300 sheen to Tauranga through Arotu, Opotiki, Whakatano and Te Puke. The party were away six . weeks and had a very trying time during the excessive heat in January. The billiard saloon is lit up with gas now and players find in a great improvement. A resident is anxious to meet tho unscrupulous individuals; wlio caused him the annoyance of having to go to Opotiki after two of his horses which they had borrowed without- leave. An establishment was opened on Saturday for the sale of hot pies. _ I don’t know if they sold well, but investors say that they tasted “fine,”
