At the Alanaia Club’s races one of the riders struck the jockey of tho winning horse in the run home, using the brass 'knob on the end of his whip, but the injured man succeeded m winning, and dismounted with blood pouring from two gashes, just abovo the temple. Had the blow fallen an inch lower the consequences must have been serious. Ihe stewards wished to disqualify tho offender for three years, but at the request of the other jockeys, they only debarred him for the rest of the meeting.
