NAPIER, Alareh .22. ’the carnival bowling competitions wero continued on Saturday, when, despite occasional heavy showers in the afternoon fair progress was made. The playing-off of the tie for first place in the R Section of the rink matches was proceeded with first. Gisborne boat Greeiimcndows (Bailley), and Bluff Hill beat Palmerston North (Bunting). The sonii-fmal between Gisborne and Bluff llill resulted in an easy win for tho former by 27 points to 10. A number of games in tlio pairs matches wero played, with the lollowin gresults: Tabuteau and Dean 16 beat Bear and Fletcher 13; Williamson and Rocketts 22 boat Hayward and Asher 18, Hind marsh and Beatson 29 beat Aliller and Patterson 17, Terry and Simm 21 beat AVrightson an dltuston 19, Porteous and Godfgor 23 beat Cochrano and Hollings 17, Bull and Yates 17 beat Smith and Trestoir 15, Dean 1 and Tabuteau 23 beat Fox and Smith 10, Cunningham and Bunting 25 beat Rice and Thomson 15, Cowell and Williams 21 beat Smith and Hall 15, Simm and Terry 21 beat Beatson and Hindmarsh 19, Cowell and Williams 22 boat Simmonds and Currie 8, Yates and Bull 22 beat Cunningham and Bunting 14, Martin and Martin 17 beat Fielder and Holt. 14.
