Messrs Peats and Pikley, leading chartered accountants, after an independent audit ol the London Countv Council’s tramways, showed that the methods of stating the accounts ire unsound. Tho displacement of horse bv electric traction has caused i loss of a million pounds, the application of .€203,592 of earnings of the horse system to relieve rates u as m,justifiable, and ought to have been applied to meet losses.
