CRICKET ASSOCIATION

The usual weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held at the British Empire Hotel Inst evening. A letter was received from the Eden Club, Auckland, stating that it was almost certain that an eleven from their club would visit Gisborne at Easter. It was agreed to allow the St. Patrick's Sports Committee tho use of Victoria Domain on Thursday next, and tho Thursday competition match fixed for to-mor-row was postponed. At- the conclusion of the meeting the Cricket Fund Committee met. It was deckled to hand- over the balance in hand to the Cricket Association, and to call a mass meeting of all interested in cricket at an early date, with the object of raising funds to still further improve the ground, to foster school cricket, and if possible to secure the services of an efficient coach.

The Rest of Australia in the second innings made 277, and excepting Barnes (who carried out his bat for 58), the lialanco of the team made a jpoor stand. Australia won by an innings and three runs. The match netted €4OO towards the Noble testimonial.
