Thera was a very exciting game in tho Gisborne championship competition at tho Victoria Snloon, 1 eel Street, last night, when Win, Forrest and B. Lucas played off their fixture. Lucas was the popular fancy, but once more the “good thing’’ did not come oh. From tho stnrt .Lucius jumped away, and established tv lead, but Forrest was not to be treated with contempt, and playing a. sound and consistent game drew gradually nearer, and the scores were called 104 each. Again Lucas drew away, and onco more Forrest overhauled him, and at. the end ol tho second hundred the board showed tlio figures to bo 201 all. From this out Forrest led, and eventually scored a well-de-served victory when his opponent was 224. At tho conclusion ot tho giuuo Forrest was accorded an ovation by the spectators for his plucky display. The competition will be continued tol- - when C. Weston and JHex moot at 7.30.
