NEW ZEALAND MEAT.

RESTRICTIONS ON BEEF. DEPUTATION INTERVIEWS PREMIER. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND March 26. A deputation from the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company interviewed the Premier on the subject of restrictions likely to be imposed by the British Government on. importations of boned beef, consequent upon a report by 'Dr Buchanan, describing boned beef as scrap meat. The deputation urged that New Zealand boned beef was very different from that sent from America.. It was inspected before shipment, was absolutely healthy, and quite good enough to be sent Homo for sausages and polonies. They suggested that the New Zealand Government should impress on tho Imperial Government the value of New Zealand methods of inspection. The Premier stated that the Government had sent Home two officers to. help the High Commissioner to ascertain what difficulties there were in the importation of New Zealand produce into Britain. The Board of Trade was aware of the inspection of meat here, and. familiar with our methods, hut it could not be expected that an inspection made here would be accepted by the British Government. All representatives possible would, however, be made on the subject.
