Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 20. Replying to a deputation from the National Defence League, the Premier said it was obvious that- the ical danger to countries in these southein seas was the yellow peril. Australia was interested to a greater extent than New Zealand. All classes of the community recognised the importance of being ready for any crisis that may arise. Anything the Government could do to assist the League to mould public opinion would be done. It was of first importance to the country that- wo should have a trained body of men ready to take the held at a moment’s not ice. I lie Premier referred to tho difference between a lorco of militia and a body ox men coming forward voluntarily to pieparo themselves for tho defence ot their homes. He added that there was a difference of opinion as to which system was most desirable, and calm, dispassionate discussion of the subject was required.
