Miss Murray, of'Messrs Euro and Ambrulgo, who is leaving the firm to get married, was the recipient of a present from tho firm and staff on .Saturday. Messrs Reid Bros have sold out their property at Motu, Mr Reid is at present managing for Mr Tullock while Ins brother leaves for Opotiki at an early date. Air. Philip G. Palmer, editor of the engineering publication, “Progress ” published in AA 7 ollington, is at present m town.
Mr. Bignell, engineer for tho Spiral Steel Pipe Company at the Gisborne waterworks, left by the Alonoyai .for AVanganui last evening. Sir Josepli AVard, with Messrs Hislop and Matthews (private secretaries), arrived in Gisborne by the Monowa.i yesterday, and left again in the evening for Napier, en route to Wellington. bliss Margaret Hunt, 8.A., N.Z. University, has been appointed a teacher in the secondary department of tho Gisborne High School. Miss Hunt is a native of Timaru, and was educated at. the Timaru High School, and, later, at Canterbury College. Ur. J. M; Bell, Director of the Geological Survey Department, was a passenger by the Manuka from AVellington on Saturday morning. He will resume supervision of the geological survey operations in connection with the local oil fields. Dr. Bell left on Saturday afternoon for the coast. He proceeds as far a 3 Tolaga Bay, viewing generally the rock formation and inspecting a spring on Air. Loisel’s property. Ho then strikes across country to AVhatatutu to his main survey camp, where he will, be steadily employed for another six weeks or two months. Constable O’Hara, who was stationed _here for some time, paid a flying visit-to Gisborne yesterday. H© was in charge of a youth who has been committed to the Burnham 'industrial school. . f< Alessrs AA 7 m. Aliller and Geo. Coop left by the Alanuka on Saturday morning for Auckland and Sydney, from where they, commence a tour of the world, extending over several months. - \ Air. A. FoVda Alatthews was a passenger south by the Alonowai last night on a short holiday trip. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Air. H. Trent, and Afp.ssrs Hyde and Lane, left for the South last evening.
