Mr Paul George Hart, eldest eon of Mr George It. Hart, ot the Christchurch Press literary stall, died m London last Tuesday aiter a oriel illness. Ho was born ill Chnstciiuicli 43 years and after leaving school ho took to the sea and rose to tho position of captain. After marriage he settled down in London, where lie resided until his death. It is understood that Captain ltupert England, until recently in command of tho British Antarctic Expedition ship, tho Nimrod, is to ho married on April 7tli, and leaves loi Great Britain on April lbtli. Mr. B. Couston went South by the ■Waikaro yesterday. . . ■Mr. Bignell, who is supervising the. water sunnly contract for the spiral Step! Pino" Company, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday, and returned to Wanganui yesterday. Mr. It. Hay, engineer to tho'Borough waterworks, arrived from Dunedin on Saturday, and returned by the Wailcare, which left, yesterday Mr. W. W. Ludbrook, Bay oi Islands, is at present in Gisborne. He intends to take up land on the East C. B. Hoadjoy, Hawke’s Bay, has been on ir visit to Gisborne. Mr R W. England (senior), architect. 'Christchurch, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday. Mr W A. Barton, 0.A1., who has returned from the Coast, will. preside over the sitting of the Magistrates Court this morning.
