WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender for drunkenness was convicted and fined os with 2s costs in default 24 hours imprisonment. A MAINTENANCE CASE. Anna Lousia Streeter (Mr. H. J. Film) proceeded against her husband Frank Streeter (Mr. Bright) for maintenance for herself and two children. After a consultation in Court it was announced that the parties were unable to come to a settlement. Mr. Bright, for the defendant admitted liability, hut asked His. Worship to take into account the peculiar circumstances when fixing the amount. Mr. Finn for the plaintiff stated that defendant was earning 35s per week, and the amount ho would ask for was 5s weekly for the plaintiff and 5s for each of the children, 15s per week in all. His Worship made the order as requested, remarking that the amount claimed was about the least ho could allow under the circumstance. RESERVED JUDGMENTS. Reserved judgment was delivered by His Worship in the two cases beard during his recent coastal tour, argument in which lin'd been taken on Monday last. In the case of the Tologa. Bay School Committee v. McNeil, a claim for 30.» for damage done to a' gate by defendant’s horse and buggy, judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs Gs. In giving judgment, in the case of Connelly against Eairlie, claim for £92 Is 3d for alleged breach of covenant, liis Worship stated that it was most difficult to estimate to any degree of accuracy the amount of "damage in consequence of the breaking of the covenant, but in all the circumstances he thought £5 would be a reasonable amount- to award. Judgment would be for the plaintiff for £5, with costs.
