BOWLING.

GISBORNE GREEN

The green was rather heavy yesterday in consequence of the rains, but it nevertheless played true. Several ordinary games were played, with tho following results: Burton, Bullock, E. Pettie, and •Simson (skip) 16 beat Mackrellj 1 avitt, Eure, and Witty (skip) 15. Paltridge, E. Lewis, W. iPettie, and Gaudin (skip) 20 beat Morgan, Ivyme, E. Williams, and T. A. Crawford 10. Fordyce, Collins, and Williams (skip) 28 beat T. Robertson, Douglas, and W. 11. Clarkson (skip) 15. No match games were played, but the committee anticipate that from now' match games will be proceeded ■with more rapidly than hitherto. The handicap singles are nearing finality, and the handicap pairs are in an advanced stage, but the championship singles and the handicap fours are in a backward state. . The district shield match, Kaiti v. City, will be played at the earliest opportunity, and Kaiti, having already won two games, will, if victorious, win tho shield.

TURANGANUI GREEN.

The recent rains made the above green somewhat heavy for play yesterday, but, notwithstanding, a number of games were played, including two matches ill tho Handicap Singles. The first match, B. Hird v. D. W. McSkimming, was won by the former by 28 to >ll. Tho players were level at tho 4th head with 5 all, and again on the Bth head with 8. all. Hird then drew away from his opponent, and finished an easy winner by 17 points. The second game was between G. and A. Sawyer, and resulted in a win for Matthewson by 25 to 14. Sawyer conceded Matthewson a 4 points handicap, which ho overtook on the third head. Matthewson secured the lead on the next head, and at the 9th head the game, was 15 playing a splendid game, gave his opponent no chances, and eventually • won by 11 points.
