ELECTION DAY.
TO BE A -HALF-HOLIDAY. A deputation, consisting of Messrs. W. Jj. Clayton, Hennessy, and G. Darton, representing three candidates for the forthcoming municipal elections, waited upon the 'Borough Council last evening to ask that election day, Wednesday, April 29th, should be the usual weekly half-holi-day instead of tlio following Thursday, and so allow electors employed iu shops time to vote. The Alayor explained that the polling-day was fixed by statute, at),d could not be altered. The Council, without discussion, acceded to the request that the halfholiday next week shall be Wednesday instead’of Thursday.
