Sir Joseph Ward, president of tho Wellington Golf Club, is to perform the official ceremony of opening the new golf house and links at Trentham on Saturday afternoou. Very complete arrangements have been made to entertain 500 guests, who will be conveyed to tlie links in a special train. Tliero will be an exhibition match, in which Air. Arthur Duncan, amateur champion of New Zealand, will take part, and-also various competitions. Afternoon tea will be served in the club-house. ' Subsequently Lady Ward will present the prizes to the successful competitors. A TESTIMONY OF EESPECT.
On his arrival in England, Air. Vincent AVard, son of Sir Joseph AVard, '' as invited to accept a commission in , 10 King’s Colonials. He declined, but ottered to join tlie regiment as a trooper, and was accepted as such. Afterwards, AJr. AVard lunched with the lit. Hon. Air. Haldane, Alinister for AVar. The King’s Colonials is a crack mounted volunteer regiment of which the Prince of AVales is Colonel. It was founded shortly .after'the Boer war, Colonel AVillougliby being the first commanding officer, and is composed o! men who have been born in or have had intimate relations with British North America, India, Australasia, and the Far East.
