WELLINGON AUTUMN RACES. Press Association. ■WELLINGTON, April 28. The weather was dull-and threatening for tho Autumn Meeting. Tho attendance was not so large as on previous occasions, but it was no doubt affected by the Mayoral election. There was a splendid day’s sport, the Thompson Handicap, being an exceptionally fine race. £11464 was put through tho machine against £12842 (which included a double machine) last year. Thirteen bookmakers were licensed at £2O 10s, and twentyone at £lO 10s for insido and outside respectively, including clerks’ fee. Results: Handicap Hurdle Raco:Aoraugi9.ll 1; Repulse 9.0, 2; To Ivaiuui 9.3, 3. Also ran: Playmate 10.4. Aorangi practically led from the start and won very easily by six lengths, To Kainui a poor third. Time, 3min 24 2-ssccs. „ Waiwetu Handicap.—Toa lui 7.2, 1; Gazely 7.13, 2; Clauchattan 7.8, 3. Also ran: Waipahu, Probability, All Guns, Kurawa'ka, and Moat a. From a good start Toa Tulii and Clanchattan wore in front but in the straight the latter gave place to Gazely, but Toa Tulii held his own to the finish, winning by a length and a quarter. Time, lmiu 32 4-osecs. Silverstream Hack Race:—Wailetlie 8.10, 1; Wharekura 7.8, 2; North Pole 8.4, 3. Also ran: Tho Libiun and Osiris. Tho latter fell after going three-furlongs. Wharekura led to the turn, where Wailetho took charge, and won fairly easy by half a length. Time, lmin 33sec. Thompson Handicap: Sunbonnet 7.2 and Sea King 6.11 dead heat 1, Aboriginal G. 7. 3. All the final acceptors except Cross Battery started. Gold Crest led for a couple of furlongs.' Then Sea King took charge,
and in tho straight Sunhonnot joined issuo, Gold Crest falling away. A desperate finish resulted in a dead heat., Aboriginal who came with a late run being a. length and u half away. Time, lmin 43 4-ssec. North Island Challenge Stakes: Dialiolo 6.13 1, Glonculloch 8.8 2, Carissima 9.1 3. Also ran: Ilusbandnuui and Formative. Glenc.ulloch led to the straight .whero Dinbolo came with a wet sail and won easily by lour lengths. Timo, lmin 32sec. Plunket Nursery Handicap: Flitaway 9.2 1, Artillerio 8.10 2, Roosevelt 7.0'3. Tho only starters: AA r on very easily by half a length. Timo, lmin 4 3-sscc. Railway Handicap: Motoa 8.5 1, Trugannini 6.10 2, Cross Battery 8.0 3. Also ran: Ballarat and Martyr. Trugannini led for the first two or three furlongs, whon tho former died away, and Motoa tackled tho latter. A good finish resulted in a head victory, Cross Battery two or three lengths away. Time, lmin 17 l-ssec. Tinakori Hack Handicap: Sir Frisco 8.4 1, Penates 8.11 2, Yosami 7.11 3. Also ran: .Alon Ami,, Blue 8011, and Blue Ribbon. Sir Frisco came in the straight and won easily by two lengths. ’Time, lmin 18 2-ssec. '
