A CONTEMPTIBLE THEFT.
RIBBONS STOLEN FROM A GRAVE. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Charlotte Poletti admitted stealing four pieces of..ribbon, valued at ss, from a grave in the Linwood cemetery. She said she was the wife of a hawker, and she could not give any reason for stealing the ribbons. The magistrate said it was a most contemptible theft, and he would not allow that sort of thing to lie practised.; j She richly deserved to be sent to gaol, and if it was not for her family he would send her there. She would - he fined £5, in default one month’s imprisonment.
