ANAESTHETIC FATALITY.
DEATH in NAPIER HOSPITAL. Press Association. 'NAPIER. May 12. An inquest was held this morning, touching the death of '.Michael Kirby of Hastings, a butcher, ngtxl: about 30, who died at the Napier hospital on the 10th hist, while under the influence of an anaesthetic. It appeared that deceased had been suffering from a broken arm and hn-U not been in good health. Tie 'accidentally broke his leg on Sunday, and was brought in from Hastings in an express instead of in the ambulance wagon. The jury returned itlie 'following verdict: "“That deceased died from collapse of the right lung, while under an anaesthetic, and the juryare of opinion' that every care was taken in administering the anaesthetic.’’ The following rider was added: “That, inquiry should be made ns to the charges for the use of (the ambulance for Hastings with a view to placing it on> such a footing that it may- -be available at a moderate price.”
