THE STIRLING FATALITY.
CORNISH ARRESTED. A CHARGE, OF MANSLAUGHTER. (Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 12. Cornish, a hotelkeeper at Stirling, has been arrested on a warrant in connection with the death of his wife. Since the inquest on the body of Mrs. Cornish, wifo of the licensee of the Stirling Hotel, a week ago, the police have been busy making enquiries, and this afternoon Richard Cornish, husband of the deceased, was arrested in Dunedin on a charge ot manslaughter. The information sets out that Richard Cornish of Stirling, publican, did, on May Ist, 1908, iinlawfully kill and slay one Catherine Cornish, his wife. Accused will be brought before the court there tomorrow morning and remanded to Balclutha, in the neighborhood of which most of the witnesses reside. The next sitting of the court at Balclutha is fixed for the 20th mst ; , and it is understood that somo evidence which was not brought out at the inquest will ho adduced at the magisterial inquiry.
