AFGHANS IMPORT ARMS. A CRUISER FIRED ON. United Press Association—Copy.c:Ur LONDON, May 11. ‘ The cruiser .Proserpine ,in the middle of April, captured in tlie Persian Gulf an Afghan dhow containing ICO rifles and a million cartridges. Mostof tlie weapons were of French manufacture. Owing to Afghan threats to destroy tlio English reservation at .Task, .tho Hyacinth landed marines, and trained her guns on the town. While tlie Proserpine was trying to intercept two suspicious coasters, Afghans, who were' concealed, opoued fire, killing the coxswain and seriously wounding another. Marine still protect Jask.
