The hockey matches commence on the Victoria Domain this afternoon. At 2 15 Kia Kaha meets City, and at 3.30 To Rau meets West End. Dawson, Smith, Armstrong, Day, M. Doyle, Bull, Friar, Grinlinton, Corbett; emergency, H. Davy. To Rau—Miinro, Hakawai, Hamilton, Bloomfield, Pine, Riwai, Davy (3), Gideon, C°ckeri , Baker, Fox, and Grieve. West End —Roderick, McLachlan, bun, Burke, Olsen, Somervell, larr, Nasmith, Payne, and Featon; emergencies, Pilcher and Poole. Messrs G. Buseke and H. Armstrong will act as referees. N.Z. At a meeting of tho Council of the New Zealand Hockey Association tonight, a challenge was received from the Poverty Bay Association for the championship shield; making six challenges received altogether. It was derided that Taranaki should play Auckland on .Ailv Rh. and that the winner should play Canterbury . on miction of finance was discussed and i't was decided to refer tho matter to a sub-committee for a report.
