A SOUTH AFRICAN QUESTION.
UNANIMITY IN THE HOUSE
(Received May 14, 9.-11 p.m.) LONDON, May 14. In tho House of Commons a resolution was moved expressing tho opinion that the Imperial Government would welcome tho ultimato inclusion of the whole of British South Africa in tho Federal Union. Sir Charles Dilkes, in seconding the motion, said that tho federation or unification afforded tho prospect of solving tho grave question of tho position of the native races.
Major Seely-intimated that the Imperial Government was determined not to lead the movement but to leave the colonies to decide for themselves. They still regarded duo provision for tho native races as essential. Air Churcliil.Lsaid the Government
wished to guide the movement towards unity, and were prepared-- at every step to assist tho colonies. Ho warned the House not to anticipate very rapid progress, since there were still serious obstacles. At present the Government could only watch and wait.
The resolution was carried unanimously.
