ENCOURAGING CRIME.
f-CHILDREN incited to steal. accused before the court. (Press Association.) DUNEDIN, .May 10. At the Juvenile Court to-ilay, two v boys wore charged with 'the theft of seven copper boilers from various i places in South Dunedin and St. Kil15..di\. Accused pleaded guilty, and on the application of the police, they were remanded until 20th inst in view of proceedings against second-hand dealers for receiving the boilers knowing them to have been stolen. Subsequently in ordinary Court, Robert Wells", marine store dealer, was charged with receiving four of the boilers. Chief Detective Herbert said it would be proved that this man went round houses ami located any boilers in accessible places, and then sent small children to steal them, giving them a trille to do it. He afterwards smashed up the boilers to destroy identity. August Ereikson was similarly charged, and Chief Detective Herbert said that this man was a licensee! dealer in a somewhat larger way. die purchased boilers at higher prices than Wells gave, and thus diverted this business to himself. Both accused were remanded to 20th inst.
