Two squadrons of tho 2st Lancers who ascended to the amphitheatre at the base of the Khapak Pass, 30 miles to the north-west of Peshawar, wore suddenly fired on from all sides. Two were wounded. The 57th and 59th Rifles were sent out in support, whereupon the enemy retired and the pass was occupied.
