SERIOUS FINANCIAL CRISIS.
AVAR NOT IMPROBABLE. United Press Association—Copyright. ‘ SYDNEY, May 16. Passengers by the China steamer state that Japan is in a deplorable condition owing to the Chinese boycott. The financial position has seriously injured the banks which are without gold, and the Chinese refuse to accept paper money. The opinion is expressed that the ultimate result will be. a war between China and Japan.
