MANCATU SPORTS.
The annual Mangatu sports were held on the Whatatutu racecourse yesterday. The rain that fell during the morning made the ground very wet and sloppy, though it did not afftet the attendance, which was exceptionally good. All the events were keenly contested, while a number of Gisborne athletes who made the journey scored success. The secretary (Mr J. N. Leslie) looked after the comfort of competitors and visitors, and to him a large share of the success of the meeting is due. The following are the results of tlie principal events: —
