OUR NEW MAYOR.

[To the Editor.]

Sir, —I very much regret the tone of your leading article under the above heading which appeared in your last issue. It certainly appears to me that you are meddling with a matter of .administration which you might very properly have left the Council to ileal with first. It can be plainly seen your object is not. the true progress of this town, but to try and stir up discord in the Council. 1 trust you will fail in your object. It is not. a case of my supjiorters being disappointed, but rather the disappointment of yourself as an opponent. I admit I have learned a lesson m tins matter, and that is, that in future it would be dangerous in the true interests of this borough to supply your journal with any information until you get it through the medium of the open Council. Without attempting to traverse all your statements, 1 would point out that there were only two Councillors absent, and not three as stated by you, and that my offer to postpone the matter was before I rpnlied which was "not l accepted. After f replied and was about to put the motion, the adjournment W formally moved, which was clearly 1 report being askeu 101 , , rcmy pledge, eejmcially the is comparatively so j- wou ld .matters, However, so ai as I £ I will aid you in •.. t rcgar ding intend to be more ' ; n future what information IL- ]n y tl)is way yo u outside‘.the Cot!”*- - - o{ m i m ( and SfaSSty tSfcnite discord.--! am, etc ” w. DOUGLAS LYSNAII.
