The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall is expected from Auckland to-morrow aitornoon.

Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Toroa arrives from Napier this morning with general cargo. The U.S.S. Co.’s Haupiri has been delayed in Auckland, and she will probably leave there to-day for Coast ports, Gisborne, and Napier. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s Victoria arrives from South to-morrow morning, and continues her voyage North later.

The U.S.S. Co.’s Waikaro returns from Auckland on Sunday afternoon and proceeds South during the evening. No further action has been taken ns yet in respect of the Union Steam Ship Company's decision to train its own officers on a special vessel. The Hartford, one of the new steamers I purchased by tho Company, will be brought over from Australia to Dunedin, where she will be examined by an expert to determine her fitness - for •the purpose of a training ship. Another vessel, the Loch Lomond, now in Melbourne, has been purchased by the and, pending, special examination, it has not been decided which steamer will be used as a training ship, and which as hulk for lightering purposes in harbor. The Company has received a number of applications from boys anxious to join, the training ship, but has not 'made any appointments yet.
