CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
Tin anniversary celebrations of Holy Trinity Church were continued in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, when -a tea and lantern entertainment was given. About 300 persons sat down to the tea, and thoroughly enjoyed the good things provided. , The Theatre was crowded at the entertainment, when some very fine lantern views of cathedrals and churches were shown, and a number of humorous subjects thrown on the screen sent the more juvenile portion of the audience, into roars of laughter The popular and mirtli-provok-ing couple, Punch and Judy, were introduced by Mr. Downes, and their trials and troubles with the hangman and the undertaker caused no end of fun. A number of children trained by : Mrs. Wood .gave a flag march, a skirt dance, and an , “Qld Morris” dance. Ten girls in- costume sang “Ten .little niggers,” and a band of boys sang “I want to bo a soldier.” The prizes, won by the scholars of the main Sunday School and the Kaiti Sunday School wore distributed bathe vicar (Rev. L. Dawson Thomas). To-night the annual parish conversazione will be held in the Theatre. A •'first-plass musioil programmer will ha provided, one or two old residents will recount their experiences in the Poverty Bay district, and light refreshments . ivilll be provided. A hearty invitation is extended to all to be present.
