CHRISTCHURCH SOCIALISTS.
“THOSE WASPS OF HUMANITY.”
AN INDIGNANT M.P
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. June’ 14
When discussing socialism at his meeting at Papanui last night, Mr. Geo. Witty, AI.P., said that he was quite disgusted at the conduct of the local socialists at the Premier’s meeting on Monday last. He had never seen such a farce before, those wasps of humanity lancing and playing the tool lu front of the ladies and others on the stage, and surely people were not going to allow such men to rule the country. They said that they would make it heaven, but in reality it would be hell upon earth. Men who could not control themselves, who had - no judgment and no common civility, were not fit to rule the country. , “You have in the Prime Minister of -this country,” ho continued, “a man all should respect, even if they do not agree with him politically. Surely lie should have had common courtesy, but for two men to get up oh the platform and dance and wave their arms about and flourish a bit of red ribbon- was utterly disgusting. There were 3000 people in the hall attlie timo,-'biit the disturbance came from only 150. If the country is going to be ruled by such men' as these, then I eay God help the country.”
