The U.SjS. Co.'s 'Squall arrived ■from Tolojj-i Bay and Auckland terday afternoon with general cargo. She returns to Auckland to-day. The a.e>. Xaeo leaves 'for Coast ■ports and Auckland to-morrow evening. The Tysor liner Star of 'Now Zealand arrives hero to-morrow to lo.ul frozen mutton for Loudon. Tho Shaw, Savall Raramaa is due to arrive here 'from South on'Frida v to load for Home ports. Tins UjS.S. Co.’s Tarawera arrives from South tomorrow morning and sails 1 iter for, Auckland. The lluddart-Parker Co.’s Victoria -arrives from Auckland to-morrow afternoon and leaves for South in the evening. The Union Co.'s turret-deck steamer Koromiko (Captain Clift) went out on the night tide at Westport last iweek with the 'large cargo of 3901 tons c;f coil, drawing 19ft forward and 19ft lOin aft. The steamer Zealandia is credited by the “Sydney Morning Herald’' with having accomplished a smart trip from Hobart ,to'Sydney recently. The voyage occupied 43 hours. Advices by the English mail confirm the report th it the well-known full-rigged s'hiip Mersey, belonging to 'Messrs James Nourse, Limited, Mis been acquired for the White Star line in connection with their scheme for training officers. This fine old sailing vessel is admirably adapted for the ■purpose in view, and at-the price she has been acquired , (about £7000) should prove economical. Some period willj of course, elapse, before the necessary preparations can be made to fit und equip the ship for eea, but no time w ill Ibe lost in doing so. She will then be fixed for an outward cargo in one of the few remaining sail-ing-ship trades, and embark Upon the business lor which she is designed.
