VOLUNTEERS INDIGNANT. OLD-ESTABLISHED COMPANY TO DISBAND. [Dress Association.] DUNEDIN, Juno 17. Owing to the refusal of Colonel Stoneham, officer commanding the No. 1 Battalion, to recommend (Ser-geant-Major Ben-fell for appointment as lieutenant, and his refusal to reconsider Iris decision, tho .North Dun-' edin Rifles, at the annual meeting to-night, resolved “that the efficiency of this long-established company is imperilled bv the refusal of the officer commanding the battalion to recommend Sergeant-Major Ben fell as lieutenant-, and as a protest against the liigh-lianded action of the officer, this company has no further alternative forthwith than to disband. Also the members of the North Dunedin ■Rifles pledge themselves not to enroll themselves in any company belonging to No. 1 Battalion while under its present commander.
