ROAD MAKERS ASK FOR A RISE. A FRUITLESS DEMAND. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Juno 17. Tho Nukualofa correspondent of tho “Herald” reports that about forty of tho natives omployed by the, Tongan Government on road formation went out- on strike a- fortnight ago.i- They were getting 3s a day, and demanded a riso of Is, which' was declined. ■‘Blackleg” labor was obtained to fill their places.
