ARRANGEMENTS FOR -RECEPTION. - —i— ELECTRIC ILLUMINATIONS. [Special to “Times.”] AUCKLAND., June 18. Tlio arrangements for the reception to be accorded to the American fleet are being rapidly pushed on. It is proposed to have the whole of Queen Street from the wliarl to Karangaliape Road decorated and illuminated. Bands will be stationed in Karangaliapo Road as well as in Queen Street, and it is expected that tlio business people will co-operate in the fastivities and thus prevent a congestion of traffic in the heart of the city. Elec, trie illuminations are to be used oa the arches in Lower Queen Street and opjiesite the railway station. Telegrams from Mr. Hamer to Mi\ Donne state that the Government in* tends to forward to Auckland 212 Q llnge, 2137 electric lamps, and the electrical equipment used on the public buildings in Wellington on the evening of Dominion, Day last year* Included in this material is a largo map of New Zealand picked out in electric lights. It is intended to illuminate the Auckland Government buildings, including tlio Post Office, the arrangements being under the i supervision of Mr. Ritchel (Govern* meat electrician).
