BRITISH FOOTBALL MATCH.
[To the Editoe.] Sir, —I read “Interested’s” letter in your columns yesterday, and was pleased to see that others are taking more than a passing interest in the forthcoming football fixture. However, there is a little to be said on both sides. In the first place, there are three or four of the selected men living in the country, and again some of the men are playing in the Thursday afternoon competitions, and von can hardly expect them to roll up to practice again after tea. and. the occupations of two or more of them prevent them from getting along. 1 think it would be as well to have a meeting of the men and appoint the nights to suit their convenience, and after that, if the men do not roll up to practise it would be advisable to disqualify any absentee for the rest of the season, unless lie could give a reasonable excuse for his absence. It would have a salutary effect in the future, and it would bo an encouragement for some of the other players to train. If the players and the committee have read and followed the doings of the British team of players, they must be fllllv alive to the fact that it is only the teams that have been trained to the day and have had a fair amount of combination that have had any chance of beating them, and I hope both players and the members of the Union will rise to the occasion.—l am, etc., “HAS BEEN.”
