Mr. Boole lias also reached Wellington, and has taken up his quarters in the now Y.M.O.A. buildings. The new Burliainont House is practically ready for the session,. The Premier has come back very much Impressed with the developments in tho centre of the North Islam!. He says settlement has got right ahead of tho facilities for transportation. He is also convinced of tho necessity for a vigorous reading policy.' Last year’s expenditure on roads was £350,000.' OBITUARY. A cable, message received from London states, that Air. Wm. Taylor, a well-known provision merchant, is dead. The deceased gentleman, who was 85 years of age. Was the father of Air. Albert- E. Taylor, City Sanitary Inspector, and of Air. Percy Taylor, of the Wellington tramways staff. Each of tho wms has been left .a considerable sum of money under the' will, and they intend to again, lake up tlieir residence in London. A THREATENED STRIKE. A strike of operative bakers here is threatened. They demand shorter hours and an increase in wages, also, an extra yearly holiday for a picnic.
