Inspector Cullen received a telegram to-day from -Constable AlcCai'tliy, of Ivaivhia, stating that word had been received there that Lo Prous boarding house, of six rooms, at Te Rauamoa, had been destroyed by fire this morning. Newberry, charged with indecent assault at (Damicvirke, was found guilty of 'assault with intent to commit a crime,, but not guilty of any actual indecency, with a.strong recommendation to mercy. The prisoner was remanded in order that a medical examination might be made as to his mental condition.- In the ease of Tims. Perry Peddle, charged with breaking tlie conditions of a probation order, it was intimated that he was'agreeable to go to Auckland-pro-vince. An order was made that he should remain there during the period of the order and report himself monthly to the probation officer in the district where lie settled.
