Lady Stout, in an interview ro the domestic college scheme said, ‘ You know, 1 have a conviction that the Maoris are one of tlio lost tribes of Israel, and if they follow the old Hebrew custom of keeping their race apart from 1 nil others, they will livo as a distinct and special race for all time. Certainly their laws of health and cleanliness resembled tho Jewish liws of .Moses.
