" • The Rata Hockey Club has received a challenge from AVellington to visit tho c.iptial city in August, and play for the New Zealand Hockey Association’s Cum which is at present hold in AVellington. Despite the- rough weather, a cold biting -southerly and intermittent rain, the hockey match between Canterbury and AVellington representatives, played at Day’s Bay this afternoon, was a good amc. Tlio Canterbury men were the'more nimble, beatin" AVellington for the ball frequently, and they showed superior combination. The first spell ended : Cantcriiiirv two goals (shot by Hillston and Jacobs), AVellington nil. In the second half, Hulbert scored for Canterbury and Elliott for AVellington, the game ending: Canterbury three, Wellington ono.
