WESTPORT PERJURY CASE.

CONTINUATION OF TRIAL. [Pbess Association.] WESTPORT, July 22. At the hearing of the charges of perjury against Connelly, to-day, evidence ’was given by John West. He said lie w.is at Ayres’ Hotel on Fri-day-night, Bth May, about 8 o clock, and saw Connolly come in..and purchase a- bottle of beer, and go out again. Connelly returned in fifteen minutes and pulled out a handkerchief all saturated with blood, and made a rem irk, “He won’t want any inoro bottles.” ■ Hugh Duncan, groomsman, recalled, said he noticed footprints at the back of the shed where Bourke’s body was found.. A gate led from there into the paddock, which abutted on a right-of-way. 3.here was a large mud hole iat the gate. Lily Pearce and, Mrs. Thos. Pearce detailed a’conversation they had with Connelly in the kitchen of the fish shopbailout 8.20 p.m.,that night-. Connelly had a sheath knife attached to a belt, and remarked he had laid one out on tlie wharf just now. and said he had had to got lour stitches put in his finger. Weber gave evidence corroborating that given by-Halincn and Andersen as to the time they wore at the theatre. ' . The evidence of Ivy Pearce, was also in a. similar direction. H. Murray denied that anyone else Init Connelly and himself were at Quaker's, where'it had been alleged bv Connelly that ho saw Halinen and. Amtersen. Murray said he watched Connelly take Bourke across the road, from Ayers’ Hotel, that Connolly .and Connelly alone took him, that lie heard no whistle as Connelly left the hotel, and saw no' one meet him in the street, that Connelly returned in fifteen minutes puffing and covered in mud. Haakenscn said he was with Hatmen and Andersen f>}l the evening, and none of them went to’Walters’ Hotel.

During tho hearing of the ease today, Andersen was seized with an epileptic fit, and was borne from the Court,, 'fljp case was adjourned-till to-morrow.
