The Olympic results are: Britain 38, United States 22, Sweden 7, Franco 4, Hungary 3, Germany 2, Canada 1, Italy 2. Belgium 1, South Africa 1, and Finland I. Halswell ran over the 400 metres course, but the two Americans declined to re-run the race. (In this race an American was disqualified for elbowing the Britisher, and it was ordered that the race he run again.) Smithson (American) won Tho 110 metres hurdles in 15sees, establishing a record. Cooke and Gilbert (Americans) won the pole jump, record 146 incjie*.
