Tho attention of the police having been directed to the iporiing notes of “Asmodeotis” published in the “Mnunwutu Daily Times” on tlio 18th inst., Mr. Jloben, as proprietor, lias received a- summons under tlio Ginning Act, 1908, setting out that ho mdiliHlied a suggestion as to the probable result of a certain horse ratio to bo run at Trentham, the uiid suggestion being in the words following: Topics of the Turf -.To-day’s Trentlium Meeting—Sir Frisco Ins been doing good work on tlio track, and should oc much fancied in the Parliamentary Handicap.; Dawn and Seaman should also lie handy when the winning post is reached,” such being contrary to tlio form of the statute in such a case made and provided. Of the horses mentioned Sir Frisco won, and Seaman and Dawn provided second and third respectively in the Parliamentary Handicap This is the first prosecution of tlio kind under the now Claming Act.
