AUSTRALIAN WEATHER.

SHIPPING ROUGHLY TREATED

United Press Association, Copyright SYDNEY, August 10.

Owing to rough weather preventing their landing, two steamers brought their Brisbane pilots to Sydney. The Konmra was towed to Newcastle. She left Brisbane on Tuesday night, and shortly afterwards ran into a strong south-easterly gale and high seas. The steamer was flying light and had a bad time from the jump. She made little headway against the 'high wind and mountainous seas, heating her almost t 0 a standstill. The gale held through Wednesday and Thursday. At night, when off the Solitaires, she was found to be drifting. The weather moderating on Friday morning an examination disclosed that the last three biad.es of the propeller had gone. The steamer drifted throughout Friday and Saturday Oil bags were used with good effect to keep down the tempestuous seas. The gale having again increased, efforts were made to attract a passing steamer and a lighthouse, but failed. On Saturday night the Noorebar saw the Komura’s rockets and came to her assistance. The captain attributes the vessel s safety to the use of oil. All aboard had a. trying and anxious time. HEAVY SEAS. VESSELS WEATHER-BOUND.
