[Press Association.] NAPIER, August 10. An inquest was held at Hastings this morning on the body of Edward John Lonergan. who met his death bv poisoning last Saturday morning. It was stated that deceased’s father had died about a week ago, and this upset the son, who was himself suffering from a severe cold. He was drinking last week', and is believed to have mistaken a bottle of disinfectant called tarmonia for a bottle of beer. The disinfectant was not labelled poison. A sister saw deceased drinking the tarmonia, and when she told him what it was be spat some of it out. The following verdict was returned:“That deceased met his death by drinking tarmonia. containing carbolic acid, in mistake for bper, with no intention of destroying himself.” WELLINGTON, August 10. Tho body of a man in an advanced stage of decomposition was found in the Molyneux River at Tuapeka Mouth yesterday. It is supposed to bo that of James Sclireik, who was drowned as a result of falling from a clviir while crossing the river near Clydo in May last.
