IMPERIAL POLITICS.
COBDEN CLUB CONDEMNED. United Press Association. Copyright LONDON, August. 11. The “Spectator” in a remarkable article, condemns the Cobden Club of neglecting to maintain Cobden’s principles in not opposing the Trades l Disputes and Eight Hours Bills, and not protesting against the House of Commons Home Work Committee’s recommendations of a Wages Board and the extinction of parasite industries paying small wages, also for neglecting to oppose a non-contributory old age pension, which it declares will enormously increase taxation and pave the way to a protective tariff.
