The Wellington second representative Rugby team was defeated to-day by South Canterbury by eight points to six. The teams were fairly evenly natclied, and tho game was interesting throughout. South Canterbury’s icores consisted of a penalty goal, kicked by Spillane, and a try obtained by Roddick and converted by Spillane. For AVellington, Gardiner obtained an unconverted try, and Perry and Gardiner simultaneously fell on the ball scoring a try, which was not converted. THE BRITISH TEAM. Tlie game was well contested. For the Western Districts in the first ;pell Curran scored an unconverted try, and Kenna kicked a penalty goal. J. L. Williams scored for Britain, Gibbs converting. After changing ends. Gavin and 11. Smith added tries for tho Western Disricts; both being uiconverted. The last few minutes’ play was exciting. Griffiths got over, Gibbs adding the extra points. Before the whistle sounded Britain was penalised, and Kenna kicked ji goal. The local team thus won by 15 points to 10 points. The British team was as follows: —Full-back, Jackett;threequarters, .J. P. Joues, J. iL. Williams, Gibbs, Griffiths; halves,-Laxon and J. T. Jones; forwards, Ritson, Dibble, T. Smith, Oldham, Thomas, Down, Morgan, and Green.
